POKOTABI / Kanekura
和食 兼蔵
Located on the 4th floor of New Pier Takeshiba South Tower, Kanekura serves hearty seafood lunches—from wild sashimi sets accompanied by chicken karaage to marinated tuna bowls—before transitioning into an izakaya at night.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
When cravings call for a fish-forward midday meal, the lunch sets at Kanekura deliver the satisfying pairing of sliced raw seafood and crisp fried sides on a single tray. A prime example is the signature three-variety wild sashimi set, which assembles fresh cuts of tuna, flounder, and red sea bream alongside golden fried chicken karaage. Dipping rich, glistening slices of sashimi in wasabi soy sauce over bowls of steamed white rice between bites of crunchy chicken offers a generous surf-and-turf contrast that reliably hits the spot.
The daytime menu extends across an inviting variety of Japanese standards, including a marinated wild tuna rice bowl with fried chicken, a winter yellowtail sashimi set, salt-grilled mackerel accompanied by seasoned nori and chilled tofu, and deep-fried chicken with scallion sauce. Small side dishes like natto and salad can be ordered separately to customize the meal. An added courtesy for neighborhood office workers and travelers on the go is the complimentary post-meal coffee provided during lunch.
Kanekura occupies the 4th floor of the New Pier Takeshiba South Tower, directly accessible from Takeshiba Station on the Yurikamome Line. Inside, partitioned booth seating dominates the dining room, providing a calm setting where colleagues and traveling groups can dine comfortably without feeling crowded. Come nightfall, the room shifts into an izakaya mode centered around beer, wine, and shared small plates, with all-you-can-drink plans and prompt service making it an easy after-work gathering spot.
